FINANCIAL POLICY

I. REGISTRATION 

Scheduling

Joyful Voice, LLC (JV) students must schedule purchased lessons (lesson credits) within 30 days or risk forfeiture. Lesson times will be available to the student each and every week pursuant to teacher availability, with the exceptions of emergencies, or school holidays: MLK Day, Holy Week (Thu-Sat), Memorial Day, Independence Day, Summer Break (Last week of July-First week of August), Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Week, Christmas Holiday (23 Dec-New Years Day). Check the school calendar posted on our website, joyfulvoice.org for a complete list of school closures (subject to change). 

Student Attendance Policy

JV provides no refund for any confirmed lesson missed by a student with less than 14 days’ notice. JV is willing to provide to any private lesson student a make-up lesson for any unplanned school closure or teacher absence. Consistent lesson attendance is key to the student’s development, and is expected of JV students. 

In-Person/Online

JV students have access to in-person and online lessons. Students may request to transition from either online to in-person or from in-person to online instruction pursuant teacher approval. 

Refunds/Transfers

JV does not offer refunds for any reason. Unscheduled lesson credits will be forfeited 30 days after the initial date of purchase. All lessons must be used within 30 days of purchase. Private lessons are not transferable to another individual and must be scheduled between the registered student and teacher. 

Lesson Credit Rollover (for recurring memberships only)

JV offers recurring monthly membership holders the flexibility to roll over one lesson credit into the next month’s billing cycle. Every month, each billing cycle adds the purchased number and length of lesson credits to that student’s account. Lesson credits may be rolled over an additional month pursuant prior teacher approval.

II. BILLING AND PAYMENT

Online Card Payment

All payments must be received prior to any services provided. Customers give their express permission to pay all account balances in full at the time of purchase through a valid payment option. Credit cards are accepted online via joyfulvoice.org and serviced by Stripe (our secure online banking affiliate). 

Recurring Monthly Tuition 

Our secure banking affiliate, Stripe manages your sensitive banking and personal information and bills the credit card on file on the 1st or 15th day of each month. The first payment occurs on the date of enrollment. Subsequent payments occur on the 1st or 15th of the month per the following example criteria: If you enroll on Jan 01-09, your next payment will be on Feb 01. If you enroll on Jan 10-20, your next payment will be on Feb 15th. If you enroll on Jan 21-31, your next payment will be on Mar 01. Students agree to pay their monthly membership tuition and individually assessed fees on time. Monthly account holders agree to fulfill their responsibility of paying all outstanding balances in full,  maintaining  a $0 balance. Monthly account holders agree to have all account balances paid through automatic withdrawal from the credit card on file. 

Membership Cancellation

Future billing may be canceled given 30 days’ written notice. Account holders who wish to end their membership and subsequent billing with Joyful Voice, LLC (JV) should submit their request by email to joyfulvoicellc@gmail.com.

Delinquent Accounts/Collections

JV reserves the right to suspend or discontinue service to any student at any time if the student’s account is delinquent. If in the judgment of JV engaging the services of an attorney or collection agency becomes necessary to effect collection or to settle any dispute in connection with the above described default, then this Policy also binds the primary billing contact on the student account contractually to paying attorney’s fees, collection agency fees, reasonable expenses, and costs to the maximum amount allowed by Virginia General Statutes. This Policy obligates that same primary billing contact to pay any reasonable collection expense incurred by JV if JV finds it necessary to refer that student account to an agency or attorney. Virgina General Statutes provide for the recovery of collection expenses equal to six percent (6%) of the account balance at the time of payment.

III. GENERAL JV POLICIES

Email

One email address per account is considered to be the “primary” email address and will be used for all billing notifications. By submitting a completed registration application, student/family consents to receive billing and registration notices, general communications, and promotional emails from JV.

Photo/Video

JV reserves the right to photograph and videotape participants for educational and promotional purposes. Any parent/guardian who objects to having a student under their care photographed or videotaped must so notify JV in writing no later than the applicable JV program’s scheduled start date or first lesson.

IV. INDEMNIFICATION

Students and parents/guardians will not hold Joyful Voice, LLC (JV), including its owners, employees and volunteers, responsible for any loss or damage of personal property while attending or participating in any JV program or private lesson. Students and parents/guardians release, and will hold harmless and indemnify JV from and against any claim, demand, action, or judgment that student and parent/guardian or any other person ever had or may have against JV, for any loss, cost or expense (including attorney’s fees) or damage or injury known or unknown, real or personal, sustained by student and parent/guardian while in attendance or participating in any JV program. Student and parent/guardian willfully assume any physical injury risk to the student that is inherent to training. Student and parent/guardian grant consent for any JV instructor to apply physical contact to the student for the purpose of making any technical correction that is appropriate for instruction according to accepted artistic practices. Student and parent/guardian authorize JV to obtain medical treatment on their behalf in the event that a student may require medical treatment during a JV lesson or event. Student and parent/guardian will pay all or whatever amount that treatment costs and will also hold harmless and indemnify JV from any claim, cause of action, damage, or liability arising out of or resulting from medical treatment.
